What Parents Are Saying
Michelle has been a great blessing to us teaching my daughter with great patience and does her best to make math learning fun. My daughter loves her time with Ms. Michelle and has even said that maybe she wants to be a math tutor someday!

As an educator I was thrilled to have the opportunity to work one to one with students on the skills and goals that they need to work on. When I saw my son was struggling in school and not wanting to work with his teacher mom I signed my son up for tutoring services with an SER tutor. After fighting with me on doing homework I was thrilled and am still thrilled that he never complains when he has a session with his tutor. And he has made so much progress. When I see he is having trouble with a skill I email his tutor and she works it with him. He has at times gone from failing on quizzes on a skill to getting 100 percents. It’s been remarkable.

Hi Luke, I just asked my son and he said he likes it which is good because he was a little reluctant about participating in the book club. I asked him to try it and now he’s glad he did.

If I could give this organization 10 stars I would!! I don't know about other reviews but I do know they are helping my son who has an intellectual disability being a young adult!! I just so happened to search for classes for my son and this org was the first one that came up, clicked on the link, spoke to Luke and never looked back....he does struggle a little but his teacher Tracy is great, and very patient he gets excited every Tuesday and Thursday when it's time to log on and have class..i can go on and on, but just know to whomever reads this review that this organization is great, the staff i have had the opportunity to have encountered are great as well, you won't be disappointed...we miss you Jamie!!

When we started our journey with Special Education Resource, our daughter was 2 grades behind in reading/comprehension and 1 grade behind in math. Within 8 months of once a week tutoring with Colleen at Special Ed Resource, our daughter was caught up to her 6th grade peers level in reading and I already got a call from her math teacher telling me that she should be enrolled in the honors math program at her junior high school. Colleen and I were both thrilled to receive that kind of call from the school. I can’t say enough about their commitment and patient diligence towards helping our daughter through those very challenging times. I would recommend their great tutoring program to any parent whose child struggles with reading, vocabulary, or math.

Finding good quality resources for your special needs child is nearly impossible. But let me tell you, this company is the real deal. I started using them for my son a few years ago and they have so many different programs that have helped him tremendously! Tutoring The tutoring service has been life changing! My son went from a kid with few words to a kid who is now in Chinese immersion at school and taking accelerated math classes. We still have him tutoring twice a week and he loves it! Book Club My son struggled with social communication and had very high anxiety when talking to anyone but me and his dad. So we tried the book club that Special Ed Resource offers. If your kid doesn’t quite read yet, that’s okay! When we did book club, my son wasn’t a strong reader yet either. My son joined a weekly group with another kid around his age, and the Special Ed Resource teacher did the reading and facilitated discussion between my son and the other kid to discuss what they heard. This experience, along with the weekly tutoring has really given my son more confidence to talk to people in person too! He will actually greet neighborhood kids when we are on walks! IEP Advocacy About a month ago, I was told by my district that they would be transferring my son to a new school, so I also used Special Ed Resource’s IEP Advocacy service to review his IEP. They helped me come up with new goals and accommodations to request to help with a successful transition next year. This has really helped put my mind at ease about this change. This is truly a one of a kind company. They have so much passion for the people they serve. I am SO glad I found them.

My family has worked with Special Education Resource for over a year. We’ve had an amazing experience thus far. Our child has grown and improved immensely due to the 1:1 tutoring we engage in. We absolutely love his tutor, Mrs. Jenny. She is kind, empathetic, patient, and an amazing teacher. She gets to know each of her students and works to motivate them based on their individual personality.

I am so thankful that we found Special Ed Resource online! Ever since our son, who has autism, has worked with his personal teacher online, his reading and writing comprehension has improved greatly! Not only that, but he is excited to do his online tutoring. I never would have imagined him signing on early to make sure he was ready for his lesson. When he has challenging homework, his teacher will work with him to get through it together highlighting the comprehension portion of the work. She really works hard with him to thoroughly explain and explore information to him. I have recommended them to friends and they are really happy with what they are seeing with their children. Not to mention, they have typically developing kids with some learning differences. I would definitely recommend Special Ed Resource to any family trying to help their children grow!

It is with gratitude and appreciation that I thank Special Ed Resources and our tutor, Michelle, for providing the essential support needed for my junior high school student. Special Ed Resources provides a unique support system that is challenging to find for students with special circumstances. I have referred Special Ed Resources to other parents as well. My experience has been great!

Frequently Asked Question
Why Choose Special Ed Resource
I’m not only the co-founder of Special Ed Resource but my wife and I are also parents of two children, including a child with autism and Duchenne muscular dystrophy. And we built this business because we recognize our children needed more than their schools could provide. Without individualized learning, many children do not reach their full potential and often experience behavioral problems, damage to self-esteem, and a negative outlook on their education. Neglecting these issues can impact children for the rest of their lives. We wanted more for our kids, and I know you do too.
Many parents have felt powerless and unsure about how to change the educational climate for their children. Special Ed Resource exists to change that. We empower parents and children with customized special needs tutoring for all learning disabilities. Today’s technology makes it easier, more accessible, and more affordable than ever to supplement your child’s learning from the comfort of home.
Whether you are looking for dyslexia tutoring, special education math, special education reading, an ADHD tutor, or an autism tutor, count on Special Ed Resource to connect you with the specific online tutoring programs and resources your child needs to become the best, most confident version of themselves.
Do tutors help with ADHD?
An experienced ADHD tutor can be incredibly helpful for children with ADHD. They provide personalized attention, identify missing foundational pieces in their education, and tailor a plan to ensure each student’s success. Online tutoring for ADHD doesn’t have a set curriculum. Instead, this modern approach relies on individualized plans. Your child can learn at a pace that works for them.
How do you teach math to special needs students?
Teaching SpEd math requires an individualized plan designed around their learning style. Some people have a disability, such as dyscalculia, which makes it difficult to comprehend numbers. Identifying challenges is essential. An online tutor from Special Ed Resource will help build a personalized curriculum that caters to your child’s unique needs.
How do you teach special education students to read?
Special education kids benefit the most from individualized instruction. You should focus on three main goals: letter recognition, pronunciation, and reading comprehension. All children learn at different paces, so don’t rush the process. Take as long as needed to master each goal.
Many parents feel overwhelmed teaching their special needs child alone. It’s helpful to bring in an expert with reading disability experience. Every tutor at Special Ed Resource is a certified special education teacher. A SpEd background helps us make custom reading curriculums to meet every child’s unique needs.
What are the 4 signs of learning disabilities?
The four most common signs of learning disabilities include difficulty reading words or numbers, poor memory, short attention span, and trouble following directions. However, your specific learning disability might manifest in other ways. These disabilities can also affect mood, socialization skills, and executive functioning. Getting a proper diagnosis is vital.
What is advocacy and its role in special education?
Advocacy means taking action in favor of a specific cause. In special education, advocates fight for accommodations, classroom supports, and inclusion. Advocates can be parents or professionals. Special Ed Resource offers a guidance program to help parents understand IEPs.
What questions should I ask at an IEP meeting for autism?
Asking questions is crucial during an IEP meeting. The experts at Special Ed Resource recommend clarifying the following:
- Which goals are a high priority?
- How often will my child receive SpEd services?
- What accommodations will my child have while in general education classrooms?
- How will this recommendation benefit my child?
- Can I see a sample IEP for autism kindergarten?
What is special education advocacy?
Special education advocacy means standing up for the rights and needs of individuals with special needs. It involves personalizing education, requesting accommodations, and speaking up to ensure inclusivity and success.
What is parent advocacy for special education?
Parental advocacy involves taking an active part in the creation and implementation of the Individual Education Program (IEP) for your child. Special Ed Resource can review the proposed IEP to ensure your child gets accommodations and supports to excel in school. Remember that as a parent, YOU play the most crucial role in your special needs child’s education.
Is homeschooling good for special needs children?
Absolutely! Homeschooling helps kids unlock their full potential in a familiar environment. Your child will thrive with a tailored special education homeschool curriculum. And if you need more help, consider a tutor from Special Ed Resource.
Can an autistic child be homeschooled?
Yes! In fact, many children with autism THRIVE in a homeschool program. Homeschooling for autism provides a more individualized and flexible approach to your child’s education. Parents get to tailor the curriculum and adjust their teaching methods to suit their child’s needs. Plus, a familiar environment reduces sensory overload and helps children feel more at ease.
How do you tutor someone with dyslexia?
To tutor someone with dyslexia, use visual aids, provide clear instructions, and set small, attainable goals. Many parents follow the Barton reading and spelling method. Read aloud and encourage your child to do the same. Patience, understanding, and positive reinforcement foster a can-do attitude.
Think Differently About Education. We Believe…
We assess your child’s learning style, personality, and interests to pair them with the ideal special ed tutor based on their individual needs.
